Poor Little Puppy!

Our dog, Animal, stayed the last couple of months at my sister's house. He's an inside dog that stayed outside while her family graciously took care of him.

I told Ken when he picked him up to get him bathed and cut so he would be ready to be back inside and he told me he has a friend who would do it for him. Apparently he's his own friend, and he's fired!

I don't know if the pictures will be in the correct order but before and after are OBVIOUS. nice.

Exciting Events of 20 May 2010 (not so exciting)

1. My dryer is broken again. The drum won't rotate. I'm a LITTLE annoyed by this!

2. I drew the picture featured at the top of this post with pastels. It was fun.

3. We packed 6 boxes in the kitchen and cleaned out 8 cupboards.

4. we found a taker for our blue sectional, so we won't have any couches after the weekend. The house is getting emptier and emptier! LOVE IT!

That's all for now. ttfn

Yummo!

The only thing blog worthy today is that I bought 7 packages of ghirardelli chocolates with caramel for 75 CENTS each! There are 12 to a package! I would have bought more but they were gone.

Peacock at the zoo

The only good thing about the zoo is the free roaming peacocks. I LOVE them! I met this one today and I've named him Stanley.

Field Trip...

Our school went on a field trip to the Barton County Historic Society on Friday. It was a super interesting day-kind of boring for the kids though. Above are some photos that I took with my phone.

Since I am blogging via cellphone email, I can't tell the order of the pictures BUT one is of an old washing machine. One is an old singer sewing machine. One is of an old truck. They started it up. That was cool. One is of old signs that used to hang around Barton County. (where we live.)

It was as nice a day as you could hope for for a partially outside field trip. I'm glad I got to go.

Dejavou

When I was a little girl one of my favorite things was laying in bed with my Mom and 'saving my Dad's spot' while he worked late. If I was lucky I could watch Johnny Carson and or 20/20. Most evenings I was sent to bed before these shows started. On nights like that I would wait a couple minutes and crawl/slither back in and lay at the foot of my parents bed to watch TV. I would always get a little chilly laying at the foot of Mom and Dad's bed but luckily they used floor length bedspreads. I could use their blanket to warm me up. If that wasn't enough I'd just pull for a little more. Somehow just as I was getting comfortable my Mom would figure out I was there and send me to bed. I never understood how she knew I was there...until my kids did the same thing to me.

There I was, lying in bed, minding my own business and all of the sudden my blankets started sliding onto the floor. It was easy to guess who was at the foot of my bed and they were just as surprised that I knew they there as I was at my Mom.

Here's the hint...when sneaking in your parents' room to watch TV, bring a blanket...don't take the one they are using.

Quote from tonight...

My kids wouldn't go to sleep. I told them many times to sleep. One is seriously bugging the other. What they were doing was funny but frustrating. I finally told them, 'When you guys are parents you're going to want to pull your hair out at bedtime.' Nicole responded, 'yeah! I want to pull mine out right now!' Hmmm, am I really going to miss this one day? YES!

FAQs

1. What part of Washington are you moving too? Lacey-it's on the I-5 corridor.

2. How far is Lacey from your Dad? About an hour and ten minutes.

3. What type of work will Ken be doing? The same-he is a mortician. Yes, he does do the embalmings. No, he doesn't think its gross. No, I don't either.

4. Will Ken be flying back to help you move? No, my Dad is flying in on the 28th. We'll drive the moving van back-towing the car behind.

5. Do you have a house yet? YES! (in Lacey, where we are moving too :D)

6. Are you excited for the move? I don't know. Its bitter sweet.

Nicole has packed Matthew's bag and is counting down the days until he leaves for WA. An 11 day long 'girl's time' is what she is looking forward too.

Today when we drove by the cemetery, Matthew said out the window-greetings dead earthlings. We come in peace.

Goodnight

17 days and counting...

I'm right on schedule and feeling nervous and excited for this move.

We've been in tornado watches the last 2 nights so the kids are especially scared right now. That's special.

Matthew flies out on Tuesday for Washington, then it will be Cole and me packing and doing the final clean.

I'm sad for this chapter of my life to end. I LOVE Kansas!

Mother's Day 2010

Since I won't be making anymore new memories with my Mom, in honor of her on Mother's Day I thought I'd share a memory that I didn't realize how funny it was until I became a Mom of a mini me.

When I was a child I was helpful to a fault. I think children like that are typically called tattle tales and sometimes micro managers. I earned both titles as a child. I just called myself helpful.

One time when we lived in Meridian Idaho my Mom was mad at my older brother (who shall remain unnamed-i only have 1) and she said something to him along the lines of 'I'm so mad I don't even know what to say!' Or 'I can't come up with the words to say to you...' You get the idea.

Well I overheard this exchange and immediately my helpful personality went into overdrive. I knew exactly what to do to 'help' my Mom!

Mom had a mouth on her. There were words she said we knew we weren't allowed to say and we also knew when she felt it appropriate to say them. I knew this was one of those times, so she must have just forgotten what those words were! I quickly ran downstairs, found paper and a marker and made her a list of those words. I whispered them so I could figure out how to spell them. When I felt the list was complete I happily went upstairs to give her the list. I was surprised to learn she didn't find the list helpful! She took it and sent me downstairs VERY unhappy.

Looking back I'm not sure if she was truly mad or if she was acting that way to keep from laughing. I think I'd probably be trying not to laugh.

I truly thought it was a great idea to make that list for her! Who knew?!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Snowman Homicide

The kids were saving these for the summer day when it was over 100 outside. They were going to put them in the driveway and see how long it took them to melt. RIP Frosty.

HaPpY BiRthDaY GinA!

Today my baby sister is OLD. Since I only have access to pics on my cell phone she may kill me later. Enjoy the few pics I have and think about her for a minute.

I love you Gina! You don't stink. That's a compliment.

May 7, 2010

Today I slept in until 7.

At work we took the kids bowling. They use bumpers so the balls don't go in the gutters. Somehow they still managed to get 4 balls in the gutters. All kids played 2 games and no one got over 100 points.

Nicole and I watched Moondance Alexander tonight. It was a cute little movie. She loved it because there is a horse in it.

I'm so glad its Friday! Have a good weekend!

Journaling

A few weeks ago I went to my friend's house and she showed me a new way to journal. She draws little pictures and stamps borders that go with what she is talking about. Since she introduced me to this, I have LOVED writing in my journal and haven't missed a day. Here are a few that I've done.

6 May 2010

Today I made homemade chicken noodle soup for the first time in my life. Yes I've had sick kids before, no I never had enough compassion to make it. It was really good and really easy too. I'll make it again.

I had my teeth cleaned at the dentist today. No cavities.

I got a fancy new waffle iron on Tuesday and used it for the first time tonight. It gets WAY hotter than my last one. I burned myself and will have a sweet blister by bedtime.

Don't watch the movie All About Steve. It was bad. I turned it off after 10 minutes.

I LOVE Wicked, cheese fondue, matching earrings & necklaces, crossword puzzles, red nail polish, the color RED, cool mint listerine and coconut candles...in case you just asked yourself what I like.

Today Duncan glued a green piece of paper to his shirt and called it a tie. When he ripped it off, there were pieces of green paper that were stuck with dried glue...that's my 'high' for the day.

Cinco de Mayo

In honor the huge party going on in Mexico (and Great Bend, KS in the trailer park down the street) we be having Italian food for dinner. This is straying from our traditional Wednesday dinner of cereal.

Tonight is scouts and I have Activity Days. This is my 2nd to last one. :(

Matthew stayed home today from school. He had a dental appointment but he had to see the orthodontist before and after it to remove and replace wires.

My stomach hurts

That sums up today! See you tomorrow.

p.s. Sorry for no pics. Don't count on any until I can Blog from a computer instead of my phone.

Untitled

We are moving to Washington in 25 days. Ken has been there since April 2. I'm feeling excited and sad about the move. Here are a few things I have failed to blog about since he left...

We've had cereal for dinner 8 of the last 35 days.

I'm having bad dreams.

I like calling Nicole Roylane Cheney 'Roy'.

Matthew wore the same socks for a week straight. He loved them so much he wore them out in less than 4 months. I've thrown them away.

My favorite shoes are yellow maryjanes I got on clearance at Walmart for 5 dollars.

I've written on my journal everyday since Ken left. (That is where I'm getting the information for this post)

I taught my kids how to play B.S. (bologna sandwiches)

Matthew won 2nd in the pinewood derby.

Nicole did awesome in her band concert.

I'm working on doing Personal Progress again. I love it!

Matthew got braces.

Nicole and I have put together 5 1000 pIece puzzles and 2 550 piece puzzles.

I had my half birthday.

My house is almost all packed.

Quote from a kid at school-I can't write my alphabet. My feet are killing me.

The kids and I made butter. It was good on noodles with garlic.

Goodnight!
